“Almost every piece of furniture in the Stolls’ four-bedroom apartment is leased-to-own from Gallery278. This gives them the option of purchasing it outright when they leave – for a nominal fee. ‘It gives us the flexibility of choosing what to take with us and what to leave behind,’ Jackie says” |

“Going on advice and recommendations from friends, she enlisted the home-styling services of Gallery278. ‘Felicia was great. She took the floor plan, came up with the colour schemes, and was involved in the whole process.
Experimenting with different colour-schemes and cultural influences was also a new experience for Chemine. She credits Felicia with opening her mind to new home-styling ideas. ‘Our house un Texas is decorated Mediterranean-style and is furnished in mostly neutral colours which is fitting for the landscape of Texas but not for Singapore. Felicia introduced me different Asian cultures and brighter colours. I felt more free here to try new things.” |

“With only a short period in which to furnish the family home, Christina turned to Gallery278. Recommended by her property agent, they were able to lease her everything that she needed. Filing the apartment with beds, sofas, consoles and tables, they also provided some sturdy outdoor furniture for alfresco feasting.
‘My favourite piece is the dining-room table, I will probably buy it from them when I leave,’ she says. With a simple glass tabletop supported by wooden beams made from railway sleepers, it adds a touch of drama to the clean white space. ‘My husband is a carpenter, so I think he will approve,’ she adds with a smile.
Gallery278 also added a touch of magic to Grace’s bedroom. With a bright pink netted canopy attached to the wall, it id fit for princess and guaranteed to delight the little girl.” |

“When it came to furnishing the place, Amber kept it simple: she got literally all their furniture from the same place, Gallery 278. Chemine introduced her to the owner, Felicia: ‘I spent a while with her, but it didn’t take too long, and she was so helpful,’ according to Amber.
It’s a rather unusual approach, but I suppose that furnishing a home in this way lets you see the wider picture under one roof, and ensures that all your bigger pieces work together. And as long as you source accessories and artwork from a variety of places, there’s no danger that your rooms will look like pictures in a catalogue for the furniture.” |

“We knew we wanted a four-poster bed and spent some time looking at various options before we headed to Gallery 278 to commission our perfect bed. We had bought several pieces from there before and had been very happy with the quality of the wood. The store makes beds in both US and UK sizes, which was useful; we wanted a UK super-king in case we move back to the UK.
Nonetheless, we were not sure whether such a large bed would fit into our bedroom. Felicia came round to measure the room for us and confirmed that it would, in fact, fit. We ordered some bedside tables too; the store even stained our existing lamp stands to match. We are really pleased with our new bed: we didn’t want anything too traditional and we think this design looks stylishly simple. It’s also big enough for us and our little daughter to curl up in together.” |

“Gallery 278 appealed to me, so we went along to have a look. I clicked immediately with Felicia and spent a lot of time with her in the showroom; her style is great, and she’s genuinely excited about what you’re doing; her enthusiasm is contagious!
The bench in our lift lobby is also from Gallery 278, so is all the study furniture, and she is making us a TV console for what’s going to be the games room…” |

“A feature wall in the Foley’s living-room is painted a deep aubergine-purple. Louise credits Felicia of Gallery 278 for this choice, which perfectly picks up the same tone in the foliage in her garden. Felicia helped the family decorate both this and their previous apartment, and much of their furniture comes from her gallery.
More adventurous the second time around, Louise even let Felicia deal directly with the two children in designing their rooms. The results are a spectacular black and white wall with a yellow ceiling in Max’s room, and lovely green walls with a red ceiling in Noemie’s. Although both sound quite extraordinary, they work well…” |

“As well as selling beautiful new pieces of furniture, Felicia Koh of Gallery 278 is great at adapting existing pieces to work together. The Hetherington’s had their three-seater couch modified to a two-seater, and two living room chairs made up with a favourite red fabric.
Most of their furniture came from Gallery 278, much of it acquired during the Hetherington’s first stint here. Meredythe sings the praises of owner Felicia Koh: ‘It’s just so easy working with her,’ she says.” |

“As an interior designer, I had very specific requirements for the design, type of wood, colour and dimensions of my dining-table. Needing a durable table that could withstand high traffic, I wanted solid wood.
An associate referred me to Gallery 278. Felicia, the proprietor, provided detailed sketches of the proposed table and allowed me to make several amendments to ensure I was happy with its proportions. Before it had been completed, I was able to view the table and confirm that colour and finish were exactly what I wanted. I was so impressed with the results that I commissioned another table for my office.” Geoffrey Dick |

“My Mercer four-door sideboard in natural stain is not only a beautiful piece that I love, but also very practical. I use it to keep my dinner-set, tablecloths, napkins, candles, wine glasses, tea-set and various other bits and pieces such as table decorations for dinner parties. Having it in my dining-room has cleared space in a few of my kitchen cupboards as well as a few shelves in the guest room wardrobe; now I have everything I need in one place.” Berny Serrao |

“The cabinet came from Gallery 278; we bought it on our first visit, and have since ought many other things there. When we returned to the US in 2001, all our Gallery 278 furniture traveled perfectly without cracking, despite the change in climate – which is more than I can say for some of out other things! And it was the same story when we move back in 2006.” |

“There are three main activities I do at my desk: office work that I bring home compiling family recipes (my current project) and managing domestic issues. I chose this home-office unit from Gallery 278. It fits neatly into the bay window of my bedroom – my reading-corner, since I am the only one in the family not to have my own room! I am definitely more organized now that I have it. Everything is in one place, there are enough storage compartments to keep different categories of paperwork together, and I find I save time by not having to wander around to find what I need – I can reach it all from the chair. When designing your work space, it’s really important to look at your workflow. I love the way the unit closes up, so it looks tidy even if I have to leave something half-finished. It also locks, which gives me privacy. I still need to look at the lighting – it would have been good to have had a light built into the unit rather than having to rely on a desktop lamp.” Christina Hoh. |

“Moving from a bright, sunny apartment into a smaller, much darker one felt like moving into a box. Felicia from Gallery 278 was tremendously helpful in finding ways to open up and brightening the gloomy space.
Not wanting to spend too much, we added artwork, mirrors and objets d’art, and re-arranged the furniture to make living room look wider and more spacious. The effect of this simple, low-cost change was amazing.” |

They even lent us a bed to use while it was being made, which was fortunate since the guest toom had a booking!” |

"We
weren't sure what the options were, but we had a good agent
who helped us find the house and he suggested Esco Leasing
and Gallery278. Leasing gave us that extra flexibility. We
have 3 months initially to live with the furniture, and the
we are in a 3 year lease to match the house lease but can
change things after 18 months. We have the option to buy what
we want to keep at the end.
We had an initial look at the (Gallery278) on River Valley
Rd, then Felicia came here and we talked through the options.
She helped us decide what would work where, then we were able
to go through the fabric options. It was Felicia's suggestion
to paint the feature wall too!" |

Gallery278 made that up for us specially to fit, but it can
divide in pieces if we don't have the same space in another

SINGAPORE
- Teak may be in short supply in many parts of Asia, but that
hasn't stopped case goods producer Gallery 278 from using
it in tables, chairs, headboards and TV armoires. The company,
based here, has found a source for the wood in old telephone
poles, warehouses, bridges and houses. Many of these are structures
are being replaced, and that means the old wood is available
to companies such as Gallery 278, which uses about 80% recycled
teak. That helps limit further decimating of forests... |
